Do Lunch Trays Make Great Frisbees?
Don't throw away your clean lunch tray. Try some of these ideas to recycle or re-use the containers.
Pictures
- Cut out center and use as a picture frame. Decorate edges in your most fashionable way.
- Make a collage using the tray as the base.
- In addition, take everyone's collages and string them together to make one big art piece (think of a patchwork quilt). Hang it up as a decoration for all to see!
- Group project idea:
- take a picture and make it into a grid. Each kid gets a section of grid and has to re-create their piece on their tray. Use scraps of fabric, beads, glitter, paint, draw it on, etc. String all trays together again to recreate the picture. Make it more fun- don't let kids see the original picture until their artwork is finished.
- Draw a picture on the tray, cut it up and make a puzzle. Give it to someone as a gift!
Shapes
- Cut out shapes and make magnets
- Cut out fun shapes and use as stamps (use paint).
- Make window hangings
- Cut out fun shapes in the tray and cover the holes with translucent colored paper or tissue paper.
- Get some string and hang in your window!
Games
- Make a tic-tac-toe board Create Xs and Os to go with the game board.
Build things
- Make 3-D structures out of it!
- Build model cities or buildings.
- Use two trays to make book covers and use it as a drawing book or a journal!
Create cards
